The founder of Florida International University’s Program in the Study of Spirituality is retiring, and the classroom will go “mobile” next.
After more than 40 years of college teaching, Nathan Katz, who has been with FIU since 1994, will retire on July 31. Katz’s next step will be to lead a 13-day Jewish interest trip of India in February 2016, as an internationally known authority and author on Indian Jewry.
Katz remembers his academic career with “pleasure.”
“I enjoy what I do. Teaching is one of my favorite things to do. I like that I’m still in touch with classmates from the middle of the 1970s “he stated, “I also feel very pleased about my research work, particularly about having helped to make Indian Jewish communities more visible and accessible to people worldwide academic community and in general.”
